Have you heard Malibu's? I don't know where they fell into the Altec lineup, but they don't strike me as being low end, or even midline. I haven't followed pricing on them, but given that you can probably find 3 sets of 19's for every set of Malibu's it doesn't surprise me that a nice set of Malibu's would fetch a higher price.

Most Definitely....... except when I try it. Sometimes my multiple large pictures just aren't enough with some items.

Yes they sound real nice but I prefer my 19's and my 604's !

Why you qouting me on that ? I never said they were low end. What I had said is they usually sell for less than half of $3050.And yes I follow prices on all things Altec.

Nor should it ! But I assure you this is the exception and not the rule... Me personally I would much rather have a speaker that sounds better than just looks prettier !

    Another point to consider.

For the audio purist the Malibu's are period correct for vintage stereo tube enthusiasts.

A good price considering the furniture grade cabs/condition.

Yah but we lost ANOTHER set to Japan.

The poor things are doomed. They have to play sukiyaki and Godzilla soundtracks the rest of their lives.

Oh well... That makes mine worth MORE.

I never understood it.... They made some of the finest amps in the world but I NEVER heard a stellar speaker that came from Japan.
